The Quest
The Richmond Olympic Oval was built for the 2010 Winter Olympics and has since transformed into an indoor multi sports arena located in the heart of Richmond, BC. This prime location is only a short drive from Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Delta and surrounding areas. Each day there are hundreds of visitors utilizing the space.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Olympic Oval has been closed to help slow the spread of COVID-19. With the restrictions slowly being lifted and various industries being allowed to operate again with caution, the opportunity came to figure out how to reopen to the public while keeping staff and members safe. Since Twiisted Media has shifted operations to creating sneeze guards and acrylic barriers, our products are perfect to be utilized in this situation.
The Challenge
At the Richmond Oval, there is a lot of open space and large customer service areas. The goal was to minimize direct contact and to protect staff/members, while not being too intrusive. The challenge was to create a large physical barrier using our sneeze guard products that would fully encompass the space. All this had to be done using large acrylic sheets that could be freestanding without drilling into the counters for stability. The timeline to complete everything was 2 weeks.
The Result
We were able to figure out a bracket system that was strong enough to support the heavy acrylic sheets, while being stable enough that it couldn’t fall over easily and hurt someone. We used specialized double sided tape to adhere our freestanding acrylic barriers to the counters further. This tape is strong enough to prevent the barrier from toppling over, while offering a clean removal in the future if necessary.
Since the counter space was quite large and acrylic/plexiglass sheets are limited in size, we figured out a way to piece together several sheets side by side to create a seamless barrier. As well, one of the counters was in an “L” shape, and we were able to construct a system that could connect the smaller table together without having any exposed openings.
We were able to prepare and test everything ahead of time in our warehouse located in Richmond prior to delivery and install. On the installation date, we had a small team of installers from Twiisted Media put everything up over the weekend.
The finished result is a nice clean acrylic barriers system that will protect staff and members while still blending seamlessly into the environment. The best part is everything can easily be removed in the future.

Do you offer installation?
Our sneeze guards are freestanding and most of our products are ready to use with no special installation requirements necessary. However, there are some locations which require a unique barrier system to be installed to fully cover their high traffic areas. As such, we offer installation solutions on all our products.
Do you stock all inventory ?
We stock the acrylic sheets in our warehouse and all related parts to manufacture your sneeze guards. We also have new inventory coming in weekly to keep up with the workflow.
How long will it take to receive my product?
