Choosing The Right Wall Decal – Three Things To Consider

Bringing life to a house, giving it more of a personal spin and imprint, is an art form known as converting a house into a home. There’s nothing homely about a bland layout of regular furniture and a severe lack of intricate ornaments and personal décor.

A great way to personalize your home, without cluttering the place with random little gadgets and trinkets, is with these wondrous things known as wall decals.

Wall decals come in many different shapes, sizes and designs, and can essentially be anything you want them to be – this is especially the case if you seek to design your own. But where do I start? I can hear you asking. How do I know what is good and bad? How do I know what to look for?

Well fret no further, because here are three key things to consider when choosing the right wall decal for your home.

This may go without saying, but choosing an appropriate wall is more important than it seems, and it already seems pretty important.

Things to consider when searching for the ideal wall in your home go a little further than just the size and space. You need to consider the layout of the room you’re thinking of and what portion of the wall a decal would look good on.

You’d be surprised at how much difference it can make to the way a decal looks simply by moving it to the other side of the wall, or even just a few feet in a specific direction. Things like these can seem petty, but they are ultimately the difference between a successful wall decal and a horrendous one.

And let’s face it, no one wants to turn their wall into something that looks as though it was designed by a pre-schooler!

Consider The Mood You’re Aiming To Set

Take a good long look at the room that you want to put your wall decal in, taking in the colours and the lighting and the shape, and try to choose a design based on the type of mood the room naturally holds.

For example, if you’re thinking of including your decal in a room with a lot of natural light, why not add something like a rising sun from one corner of the room, with a nice quote to do with rising when you’re down, written in the shadows cast behind the words.

Things like this can mean the difference between an average wall decal and a uniquely-placed, well thought out one. So take in the details and be unique.

Carefully Select Your Sticker Type

Wall decals come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but did you also know that they come in a variety of different application types too? Decals can be self-adhesive transfer stickers, non-self-adhesive transfer stickers – both of which literally transfer the decal to your wall – or even peel-and-stick removable stickers.

When selecting the type of sticker you would like, it’s important to take into consideration exactly how you plan on using your wall decal. Do you love the design so much that you could never see yourself taking it off? Then opt for a transferable sticker.

But if you aren’t completely convinced on the design and location, opt for a non-transferable sticker instead, that way you can remove the decal and try it in a new location to see if it works better there.

Now Go Personalize Your Home

There you have it, three helpful things to consider when picking out your wall decal. Now you can make your decision in absolute confidence, and can make sure you choose the perfect sticker for your perfect home.
